Privacy Policy
Last updated April 30, 2026
Seek is built around a quiet kind of trust — you tell it what's on your heart, it points to scripture. This page explains, in plain language, what data Seek handles, why, and how to remove it.
1. Who we are
Seek (the "app", "we", "us") is an iOS app that surfaces Bible verses, prayers, and worship songs in response to what users share. This policy covers the iOS app and this website.
2. What we collect
Account information
When you sign up — by Sign in with Apple or email and password — we receive and store:
- Your email address (or Apple's private relay address if you choose to hide it)
- A display name, if you set one
- An anonymous user ID issued by our auth provider
Preferences and activity
To make the app work the way you've set it up, we store:
- Onboarding topic selections
- Your preferred Bible translation (NLT or KJV)
- Notification preferences and your local time zone
- Your push notification device token (only if you enable notifications)
- Streak count, longest streak, last active date
- Aggregate counts (verses explored, cards created, daily chats used) for in-app stats and rate limiting
Seek is offered free of charge. We do not collect or store payment information. If you choose to make an optional donation, the payment flow opens externally in Safari and is processed by Stripe, who handles your card details directly under their privacy policy. Seek receives only confirmation that a donation occurred and the amount — no card numbers, no billing address.
Chat content
When you use scripture chat, the message you send and the previous turns of that conversation are forwarded to our AI provider (Anthropic) so it can return relevant verses, a prayer, and a worship song suggestion. Important details:
- Seek's servers do not persist the contents of your chat messages. Our backend logs only a per-day chat count and the timestamp of your most recent chat — used solely to enforce rate limits.
- The full chat history is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData. It does not sync to our cloud. Reinstalling the app or signing out clears it.
- Anthropic's processing of those messages is governed by Anthropic's commercial API terms, which prohibit using API inputs to train models and apply standard trust-and-safety retention. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Saved cards, favorites, and prayers
Verse cards you create, verses you favorite, and prayers you save are stored only on your device. They are not uploaded to Seek's servers.
Information we do not collect
- We do not use third-party analytics SDKs (no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, no PostHog).
- We do not display ads or use ad networks.
- We do not collect device advertising identifiers (IDFA) and do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not collect precise location.
- We do not access your Photos library to read photos. We request write-only permission solely to save the verse cards you choose to export.
3. How we use your information
- Sign you in and keep you signed in
- Sync your streak and preferences across devices
- Send daily verse and streak notifications you've opted into
- Process scripture chat requests through our AI provider
- Enforce the daily chat limit (50 chats per user per day)
- Diagnose errors (server logs do not include message contents)
4. Service providers
Seek runs on a small set of vendors. None of them sell your data, and each only handles what they need to do their job.
| Provider | What they handle | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Authentication, profile and preference storage, edge functions, push notifications | United States (East US) |
| Anthropic | Processes scripture chat messages to return verses, prayer, and song | United States |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, push delivery (APNs), the App Store listing | United States and your region |
| Stripe | Processes optional donations made from inside the app. Card details go directly to Stripe; Seek does not see them. | United States |
If you tap a worship song link, the destination service (Apple Music or Spotify) receives a normal web or app request from your device. Seek does not send anything about you to them; you are simply opening their app or site.
5. Permissions on your device
- Notifications — optional. You can turn them off any time in Seek's Settings or in iOS Settings.
- Photos (write only) — optional. Used only when you choose to save a verse card to your camera roll.
- Sign in with Apple email — at sign-up, you can choose to share your real email or use Apple's private relay. Either is fine.
6. Children
Seek is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your choices and rights
- Edit or delete your data: Profile → Delete Account inside the app permanently removes your profile, sync data, and usage logs from our servers.
- Sign out: Profile → Sign Out clears your session on the device.
- Turn off notifications: Profile → Notifications, or in iOS Settings.
If you are a resident of the EEA, UK, or California, you have additional rights under your local privacy laws — including the right to access, correct, port, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data. Contact us at the email below to exercise any of these rights and we will respond within the time required by your jurisdiction.
8. Data retention
- Profile and sync data: kept while your account is active. Deleted when you delete your account.
- Usage logs (rate-limit counters): retained for up to 90 days and then automatically pruned.
- Chat content: not stored on our servers. Stored on your device until you sign out, delete the app, or delete your account.
- Push notification token: deleted when you disable notifications or delete your account.
9. Security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Data at rest in Supabase is encrypted by the provider. Access to user data is restricted via row-level security policies that scope every read and write to the authenticated user. No system is perfectly secure, but we follow current industry practice.
10. International transfers
Our service providers are based in the United States. If you use Seek from outside the US, your data will be processed in the US under the safeguards offered by each provider's standard contractual clauses or equivalent transfer mechanism.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
